Young girl's dress purchased in Mexico in the 1970s. The dress is made from a coarsely woven cotton and features panels with traditional bands of black embroidery. The dress has a square neckline and short sleeves. Two bands of black embroidery are placed at each sleeve featuring dogs and llamas. At the front and back of the neckline more brands of embroidery are found - these feature embroidered reindeers and embroidered dogs. A small ruffle with a black zigzagged stitch is sewn beneath the embroidered panels on the dress. A larger ruffle with a black embroidered zigzag line is stitched to the hem. At the mid point of the dress, two patch pockets are sewn and feature black embroidered dogs. The embroidery is crafted with bold large stitches which create a more abstract style to the motifs.
