Early 1960s cream wedding dress. The dress label indicates this piece is from 'Bianchi' a bridal store established in Boston in 1949. The dress is designed with a wide boatneck at the front which drops to a dipped back and three quarter length sleeves. The chest has a pointed cut, typical of this era. At the waist, a few large pleats are inserted adding some volume to the straight long skirt. Embroidered lace details depicting floral motifs at three points in the dress - a band at the waist, a wider band at the knees and an extended wide band at the end of the dress. The dress is lined in a satin polyester with a band of horse hair sewn into the hem. The dress is fastened at the center back with a closely sewn row of 32 satin covered buttons. The bodice of the dress is lined with a stiff organza and the store label is sewn onto the lining at the back of the dress.
