Set comprised of a jacket and shirt and both made from shot, textured silk. The jacket of the set (A) has a long, straight cut and wide three quarter length sleeves. A patch pocket with an angled opening is placed on either side of the central opening. The jacket has a high collar in a traditional mandarin style. The coat is fastened with a row of 8 toggles and loops made from spiraled and knotted strips of the same silk used for the coat. The shirt of the set (B) has short sleeves crafted as an extension of the shirt with no shoulder seams. The shirt is has a high mandarin style collar and is fastened at the center front with a row of three toggles and loops (made from the same silk as the shirt) and three concealed poppers. The set was purchased in China Town, San Francisco at the end of the last century.
