Pantalettes from around the turn of the century. The are made from a very light white cotton. The pantalettes are fastened with a single small button at each hip and a drawstring tie at the center back. The legs of the pantalettes remain open at the inside seam and are sewn shut above the ruffle detail towards the bottom of each leg. This ruffle detail is comprised of pintuck pleats encircling the leg from which the ruffle then falls uninterrupted till it reaches the geometrically cut hem which is edged in delicate lace. The initials 'G, M' are embroidered below the waistband at the center front of the pantalettes. This item has been mended a few times below the embroidered initials.
