Yves Saint Laurent maxi dress (A) made from a synthetic black fabric and and a gold and black brocade. The sleeves, back and front of the skirt of the dress are made from the black fabric whilst the front bodice of the dress is made from the gold brocade which has been draped from the shoulders and gathered into loose pleats at the natural waist. Shoulder pads are added to define the shoulders and create an exaggerated silhouette. The dress is fastened with a zipper at the left side seam and the store label is stitched to the inside neckline at the back of the dress. A separate belt (B) made from the gold brocade, which has been gathered loosely, can be added to the dress to create a more defined waist, this is fastened with four wide hook and eye closures at the center back. A scarf (C) also made from the gold brocade and gathered at a single point at the center, can be worn in multiple ways allowing the wearer freedom of expression.
